The jazz re:freshed movement was built around its weekly live residency in the heart of West London, covering the whole spectrum of jazz and jazz-influenced music - from dance oriented jazz to the various cultural interpretations: jazz fusion to brokenbeated jazz, be bop to hip hop, avante garde to Latin jazz, Afro jazz to jazz funk, jazz rock to nu soul and everywhere in-between. In addition to the live aspect, resident and guest deejays spin from the roots of jazz to the cutting edge, drawing influences from all over the world. For Jazz re:freshed, it is extremely important to have a mix of well established musicians and emerging talent, the only criteria being the quality they bring to the table. The strength of Jazz re:freshed is in the support and the enthusiasm of the performers, not to mention the ever appreciative Jazz re:freshed audience.

I'm Gemma. I started doing adult ballet in October 2015 (having danced as a child and taken more than 8 years off) and have become a bit obsessed. I now take ballet classes 6 times a week and am considering becoming a qualified ballet teacher. I've been on pointe for over 3 years, passed 2 exams, performed in 7 shows, danced with Wayne Sleep, attended 2 summer schools, a ballet retreat in Morocco and countless workshops and have danced at Elmhurst, Birmingham Royal Ballet and the RAD headquarters. I hope my videos will show there are plenty of opportunities for adults to dance regardless of their ability or previous experience. In addition to ballet, I've also tried out contemporary, modern, jazz and tap classes. COVID and a major hip injury have put a major dent in my ballet plans over the past 12 months and for the foreseeable future but that won't stop me dancing as often as I can. Luanda Pau Born in Havana, Cuba, Luanda is passionate about dance and arts education and has a track record of working with young people and adults both in Cuba and Europe to create integrated learning experiences. With a 25-year track record as a performer - solo artist at Conjunto Folklorico, Havana - and teacher. Luanda graduated from the National School of Art of Cuba (ENA) in 1994 as a dancer and teacher of Cuban folk & contemporary dance. Luanda holds a Certificate in Choreography (2001), Ministry of Culture of Cuba; Certificate of Artistic Direction, Script and Production (2001) Ministry of Culture of Cuba; Diplome National, in dance and sports education (2010), France.
