Mark Morton is Professor of Double Bass at Texas Tech University, and for 23 years was a member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra -- 14 years as Principal Bass. First-prize winner of the International Society of Bassists Solo Competition in New York, Mark has appeared as double bass soloist in Europe, South America, Canada, and the U.S., and has been a featured double bass soloist on radio broadcasts including NPR's Performance Today, WGBH Boston, and WQXR New York. Earning his Bachelor and Master degrees from The Juilliard School in New York City, Dr. Morton is only the second bassist to earn the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in the history of Juilliard. Albany Records recently released his Botteini's Greatest Hits! CD on which he plays both bass and piano. Morton also shares a CD with Gary Karr of solo double bass music by Paul Ramsier on Albany Records.
