The teachings of Shadow Yoga are based upon the ancient Hatha Yogic texts which state that ‘all fixed forms should be designed to develop the practice of freestyle’. Freestyle is a necessary step in the cultivation of longevity and enlightenment. The name Shadow Yoga is derived from the 6th chapter (entitled ‘Yoga of the Shadow Man’) of the ancient tantrika treatise or writings titled ‘The Shiva-svarodaya’ (the birth of the breath of life revealed by the god Shiva). The Shadow Yoga teachings encompass different stages of learning. There are various paths from which to choose as one ascends to the heights of knowledge and experience. I feel fortunate that we have technology like zoom and YouTube so I can offer yoga to a wide audience. By practising in the comfort of your home, you are basically doing personal practice. You're not distracted by other students and possibly able to sense and feel more of what you are doing in poses. Personal practice is less about looking good and more about you learning about yourself within the great system of yoga. There’s an additional benefit of doing yoga at home...you don’t have to travel. That is a CO2 saving for the environment and for your wallet, too. Best of all, home practice encourages us to be self-starting and to evolve in yoga at our own pace.

The MIDL Meditation System is a systematic Buddhist insight meditation practice based on the Satipatthana Sutta, that has been designed for daily life. It uses a foundation of the development of tranquility meditation (samatha) for insight into reality (vipassana).
